my vdo dipstick probe is not bad, it will give you a clue when or if stuff starts to get out of hand . jk n alike do them
Definitely! On the weekend and will then feed back! For some reason the van has started to tick over too quick! Is This a sign of the throttle cable giving up the ghost?
Could be a number of things Do the revs drop if you put your toes under the throttle pedal and lift it up?
To be honest I noticed tonight on the way home and when I put the van back in the garage! I was Bo?£@&ed so I just turned it off! I will have a look tomorrow zzzzzzzzz Goodnight world
Well I took the van out today and once we got to our destination I stuffed the digital food thermometer down the dip stick hole whilst the engine was ticking over and the oil temp was max 89 degrees C!! I was taking it easy but we had been driving for about 40 mins so really pleased and it has put my mind at rest!
I have a oil temp gauge and I fitted it with the thought that whatever it read, the engine ran perfectly well before I knew the oil temperatures. I take the temperatures it reads as a guide. I've learnt a lot from having one though. I find that the hottest it gets is on the motorway at constant speed. If you stop say in a traffic jam, it gets cooler first! On a roads when your speed varies it never gets so hot. The air temperature does make a difference. I stick to about 55mph and it might see 100 degrees once in a while. I don't worry about sitting in traffic like I did without it. Hope that helps physiopro!
