How did you all get your user names

Our name is thanks to Hailfrank at our first TLB camp.

I've recently been insisting my wife calls me Sir at all times.

Coincidentally I've been sleeping in the van quite a lot.

 

My real name is Dave

 

My dad gave me my username!

 

My names Ross and occasionally people call me Rossco

 

Mine is in honour of how I made my fortune in South Africa 25 years ago. I was given the opportunity to buy some land on the banks of the Orange river near its confluence with the Vaal river about 100 km from the tiny village of Kimberley.

I had intended to move there and build a house but it turned out to be susceptible to flooding and was therefore basically worthless.

Four years later I received a letter from a Pieter Van De Merwe who, at that time worked in acquisitions for the Kimberley North Cape Diamond Mine.

It turned out that my previously worthless Sandy Bay on the Orange river was actually very rich in diamond bearing kimberlite as well as having a substantial lamproite volcanic pipe running through it.

My Sandy Bay, which had originally cost me 100,000 rand (about £18,000) was now very very valuable indeed. I sold it to the Kimberly North Cape company for a life changing amount and I've been basically retired ever since.

It was such a large amount of money we even named our first child Sandy in honour of our lucky South African SandyBay.

 

That is such a brilliant tale dude!

Mine is simple, I have had quite a few bikes but when I really started using the different bike (then car) forums it was just a case of my bike was an Yamaha FZR1000 Exup RU and it was my toy!

 

Well my Army nickname is Gus and I like the happy Mondays, they did an album called squirrel and Gman 24hr party people plastic face can't smile white out.

One of my mates made a connection between them, started calling me Gman and it sort of stuck. The 4175 comes from the last 4 of my Army number.

 

Yup, it's a good story, it is just possible that some of the finer details may have been slightly embellished in order to improve the narrative.
