(this is not linked to any ad in the for sales area)

our current rule is must have v5 or equivilent.
now was thinking, should we specify each ad must have a picture?
that way people could see the bus and it might ring bells etc and if so we can pass on info if needed.

    just wanted your thoughts.

before the crash we also had a good selection of pics in a thread that could be checked and we will replace it in time.

yeah i'd say but some hate having number plate on show whether for sale or not.

if it's ringed the number plate would be for the plate and not the bus though

  5. I don't think you can get too picky i.e vin number etc , so van registration is probably fair .
really it's up to the buyer to check it out properly & if it looks to good to be true it usually is

yeah that's true but if we can help reduce the thefts or resale it has to be a good thing. an honest seller won't mind the rules being in place will they?

there are many people who still buy a bus on description and pics without seeing the van.

  7. You should certainly charge to advertise a bus.

    Do you ?

While I agree about posting a picture and displaying a valid licence plate I also agree with Gumbo that it is up to the buyer to check it out.

Perhaps we could have a link page in the sticky area about things to look for i.e where the chassis number is, m plate, what to look for and a link to the DVLA page. That's quite a good way of checking what it is like what Rickyroo found out about the Womble bus. It gave colour and engine number. Leave this with me. I'll get onto it tonight. But if anyone has a few tips post here or pm me and I'll add them.

  11. you want to concern yourself more with those selling body cuts. You should only allow ads of this nature from verified traders.

If you made me put up chassis and reg numbers I wouldn't place an advert. That's how ringers are made!! Its easy to copy a number plate and chassis numbers; hand someone an image of your chassis and M plate on an open forum and you're absolutely mad. Certifiable! (take it down Birdy ;) )

You can buy these as blanks off ebay dirt cheap, and no matter how hard DVLA try there are still '000's of ringers created every year and sold to unsuspecting punters along with log books and MOT certificates. But its getting harder for them.

If I ever sell a vehicle to anybody I want to see photo id first - passport or license. If they pay cash they don't get the keys until the money has been handed over to a bank cashier and verified. And they come with me. You may think i'm paranoid but I haven't been caught out.

    Plod on redial

I've added some more stuff that I think is relevant to this in the "stolen" section. And thanks Joker, I have altered my pictures.

  14. For a complete bus can it not be verified by another member of TLB, it may stop anyone on here being duped which is a start at least.
