Home made parcel trays.

  1. Thought I'd post this for ideas for others. locally in Cape Town we don't have the luxury of big retail shops like Just Kampers and others, and importing stuff into SA from the US or the UK, with exchange rates over 20 to 1, starts to make owning these cars exorbitantly expensive. So we hunt for friends flying in or out often.

I wanted a pair of parcel tray for under the dash. Always handy to have extra storage in a Camper. So I decided to make them up. I used a 22mm wide Aluminium Flat Bar, bent by hand to shape. Pop riveted that together, and wrapped the frame with that plastic cable coil stuff. Then fabricated a this supawood base which I tethered to the frame with some ripcord. Lastly, made two Aluminium arms to bolt to the bottom of the dash, and one screw on each back side into the air duct metal. Now just need to fit two pierces of thin rubber mat, or black felt carpet. Solid, rigid, and I think, turned out great.

  4. Hey. thanks, it's a 2 mm sheet of white plastic which curves and bends easily. Helps to clean up the front end a little more, and as I didn't want any kind of carpeting for wet issues, surfing etc, this is just a lot easier to clean up and keep clean. I thought it neatens out the front by going up to under the dash.. Just had to cut two strange shapes out each side for the airvent metalwork.
