FOR SALE Hire business with two buses

Discussion in 'Late Bay Classifieds' started by Moo, Jul 18, 2017.

  1. I like the general chat on TLB but I think chit chat should stay out of ads, I've seen that rule on quite a few forums. If something is over priced / badly described / not to your liking then it won't sell, simples! I've found it frustrating when selling something and a load of chat/comments hijack the thread (yes I realise the irony of me posting this in someone's sale thread).

We don't do chauffeur driven weddings, but we do get a few who hire the buses for self drive weddings. Things like that make it all worthwhile - a few weeks back we almost convinced ourselves to stick with it regardless when we had one wedding hire and one lad hire a bus as a surprise to propose to his girlfriend in the same week. It was ace. :D
But it's true, you can't please all the people all the time. There will always be a small minority that will find anything to complain about (my favourite so far is the lady who complained she had to drive at a slow speed for her hire because the gearbox was shot - whenever she got up to speed and went from 4th to 5th it really over revved and whined o_O).
People will call you out to fix a problem that literally doesn't exist, others will ignore a genuine problem and only tell you when they return the bus, leaving you next to no time to sort it for the next people. Some will brazenly return late when youre in a rush.
It's not easy, but, it has served it's purpose - it's given us a justifiable opportunity to get back into the scene when we thought we'd never be able to afford it again - its nice to be running your own bus for once (even if someone else will be driving it next week, then someone else the week after), rather than just working on other peoples.
We've had a few perks and small pay day's but, most importantly, we'll be left with two project buses and (assuming we run it ourselves 'til the end of the season) a tidy lump sum to put towards their restos.
As far as this thread has gone, I totally understand @mgbman voicing his concerns. The last thing we want is someone to take over our business believing that the buses will Marmite rainbows culminating in lottery style life changing pots of gold out their exhausts. They wont.
To everyone who's offered their best wishes with the sale and/or pointed out it's positive aspects, thank you

It has been discussed and we do keep an eye. this thread does seem to have provoked a lot more discussion than most but it has also had a lot more attention than it might have had otherwise.

  4. But that's why our forum is the best.

Members who post on here know full well they will get lots of comment, positive and negative, but overall the mix of comments can be a great help.

That applies to all topics including the for sale ads.

The forum is light hearted and fun and we try not to take ourselves too seriously.

Lets try to keep it that way.

I was thinking of making an offer but I'm not really local and I feel with the website etc. it would need to be.

Would you run it for me

I put your kind request to Mrs Moo... and she was... ummm... less polite with the "no!" than me.
Maybe if you fed her more wine first. ;)
