I'm hopefully not far off getting ours in for the side. I've a tiny bit of b pillar and bulkhead to fit first. Best of luck!

  2. Feels like we're having a race from pillar to pillar!

  3. Had a break from the arches today and started getting the pop top sorted out. Top cap had a pounding when it came off and there was quite a few cracks breaks and also the wooden shape/support rails were pretty knackered.. replaced the wood and re fibre glasses the broken sections and also covered all the old holes where the bellows attach to - at least I know it isn't going to leak through the old rusty screws[IMG][IMG]

  5. Relatively easy I'd guess in most cases.. it's just a M seal with a spreader seal in the middle.. mine was quite tough cos the last guy had used roofing adhesive a tar to try and seal the roof so I was battling again that to start with. Once the seal is cut away the cap only touches the outer rim by about 5 mm all around.. I'll take a couple more pics tomorrow to explain..

  6. Sprayed the inside in good old L90D today just so I can get the nose fitted. Going to do the cab floors next so I can plug weld from the holes made by taking the old ones out. [IMG]

  8. N/S attack today.. bulkhead was shot to crap so looks like it'll need some thinking about.. for some reason the single skin has had children lol[IMG]
Started looking at getting the cab floor in and tidying up the wheel tub.. metals pretty good to be fair.

  10. Not a great evening at the office.. Wheel tub looks pretty now[IMG]
But hacking out the cargo floor to sort out the back of the bulk head through up a couple of new jobs..

I'll need a new top hat, but the chassis rail is knackered.

Has anyone changed a front chassis rail and is it only possible from top?

jK have them but it looks like it fits from the bottom on the 73-79 .. the up to 73 version looks like it fitted from the top?!

They are not all that great from what we found, where the bulge is didn't fit very well in relation to the repair panel, it required some serious fettling. That was five/six years ago, panel quality may be improved now.

  12. Think I might just make one considering the crap I've just found under the cargo floor

Sometimes that is a better option based on some of the poor quality panels around!

  14. Getting the cab floor up showed a humongous amount of debris and rust in the stone pans so decided it would be better to chop them out and get to the rails etc.. looks like they had tried to make an out rigger from fibreglass as per their usual and jacking points were none existent. The centre front looked ok but after trying to get the tophat off it was easier to chop the centre out as well[IMG]
At least now I can fit new outrigger jack points and redo the chassis rails properly

Going to try to get back down tomorrow to chop out the O/S stone pan and start cleaning the rails before buying the new bits

  15. Small update but...Glad I chopped the belly pans out now as they had just over plated rust so chassis rail needed some attention .[IMG][IMG]

Got some more to do along the rail as I try linish off the weld and pans not totally killing the rails[IMG][IMG]

    Aha it’s working now!
Sill end should line up with the tab on your top hat (you want something to weld that tab to so the sill has to sit behind it really).

Sill end pokes through the bulk head.
