  1. Hi, we have recently- well about 8 months ago! Bought our first Type 2, a 1972 camper.

We bought her having spent some time on the internet looking for a project, and this one popped up locally for a pretty reasonable price.

It’s an interesting mashup of parts with the dormobile top and what we think is a Devon interior, and has a type 4 fuel injected 1.7 litre engine. We have thrown ourselves in the deep end a little with the amount of work required as although I am an engineer by trade and have a lot of experience working mechanically on Cars my restoration experience is pretty much limited to a mini that I got when I was 16!

We have done quite a lot of work on her so far and she is fairly stripped down, I’ll start a restoration thread at some point soon as I’m sure I will need quite a lot of advice!

Looking forward to getting more work done and hopefully you guys can lead me in the right direction!

  14. photostudio_1588593646838.jpg Hello and welcome. That interior looks great - much better condition than the one I restored. It will come up really nice with some sanding down and re-varnishing:

  17. Hi we are from just outside Falmouth :) Funnily enough we love going to the Peak District and it will probably be a trip we will attempt in the camper!

  18. That’s great news! Is it a Devon interior then? The interior is in great condition, not an awful amount to be done to be honest apart from door cards and insulation etc, the electricals are terrible so will be redoing that.

  19. Looks like a Devon interior, yes.
I'd say your bodywork is where you'll be occupied for a while!

Usually head down 3 times a year and stop at St Agnes at Trevellas and at St Keverne .
Coming down we would leave at 5.30 evening and kip at Taunton deane services ...making the morning final run nice and easy .
There are a lot of campsites in the Peak ...but like you down there dead to the world ...let's hope things change at least later on in the year , with some form of restrictions to make it possible.
