Heater cable barrel clamps

  1. Hi
Thanks to everones advise today I
took out engine and removed firewall
    Changed all breathers,
Changed fuel fill line and elbow for filler cap
    Fuel line and filter
    Pump line to carb
    all in bio proof hose
    Connect breather system to K&N
Changed spark plugs, leads, distributer, rotor arm.

and yes forgot the throttle cable so had to pull it twice

Running as sweet as a nut now

    BUT

When I came to reconnect heater cables, I'm not happy I got the barrel clamps connections right. Does anyone have a pic as they seem too loose

  2. No pic but when my cables are adjusted correct my sit relaxed. My first one so maybe wrong but fully close and open so I'm happy

The way I do it is to set the flap lever to closed or up then pull the barrels in the loops on the end of the levers forward along the control wire ends to start closing the flap.
Then I finger tighten the screw in the barrel so the flap spring pulls on the wire when you let go of it.
Then loosen the screw and let the flap slide back to open then do up the screw properly. Like this they are just slack with the lever up on the dash.
