Type 4 engine, early type heat exchange collar at the clyinder head has come off. I assume I can get this welded back on - any tips? Worth doing? Do I need to seam weld all the way round, as it seemed to be only tacked on in a few places ? a picture:
Just along each flat side is fine... But you will need to clean it back to shiny metal and turn the welder up to max to get good penetration
Thanks Paul, I'll get the welder cranked up then.... Does it rely on the interfence fit to seal, or should I shove a little bit of exhaust paste in there? Sorry for all the questions!
