Headlight bowl replacement

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by the 3 crispies, May 15, 2020.

  1. Looked at headlights earlier and made temporary brackets for fixing screw to fix to. Is there a link to replacing actual bowls. Any pics of brackets inside also.
On plus side now have working headlights.

Thats where you should have got the Schofields bottom half of front panel for £20 at Dubfreeze. They had two, I bought one. Two rust free headlamp bowls and a rot free lower panel. Both of which my bus needs, along with the opportunity of making a better spare wheel carrier.
Sliced just level with the bottom of the air box aperture. I think somebody was fixing windscreen surrounds and didnt need the bottom part of the panel. Or somebody dropped something on a stack in storage and they rescued the wreckage.

It might be worth askinng if they have more.

You used to be able to phone Schofields and they'd say "where do you want it cut?"...then sell you the bit you asked for at £80 instead of £90 because it was £10 cheaper to post than a full panel. Halfway up the airbox/indicators is a great place to join as a lot of it is holes.

Sorry if this is a hijack but I have one without the windscreen surround if you or anyone else is interested. Shipping would be a problem as I'm in Guernsey. PM me if needs.

The headlight bowls are held in by spot welds on the a lip of the front panel , think there’s 4 I have replaced them before, it’s very fiddly

  6. ah if you say its difficult then Ive no chance... Another job along with the arches, screen inner panel I need to get someone to do for me, any pics of standard bowl showing fixings for now so I can fabricate something properly. :)

  7. cheers, but out of my depth doing that sort of thing. Pity your not close !!!

  8. thanx but our front panel is not too bad..

  11. Found out why Mrs got wet feet on way to bug jam last year. Looks like original, welded in but arnt tags for fixings supposed to be level
On inside looks like dash has to come out to repair. May seam seal and prime until winter as getting arches done as put off this year.[IMG][IMG][IMG]
