i took the old one off and gave it to a local woman that makes boat covers, she did the sewing and i fitted it

total cost was about £100, it's nice acrylic material as well

Mines a similar size to ^^^

didn't do it all myself but was around same price your quoting.

Proud to pop wanted van for 1 week around £700 odd and then + fuel to Devon (I think) and train fare home Etc.

I used a company called sparks marine in Oxford. Took half a day and the people there were fab.

If they are close to you, go and see them. They get V busy from March/April with boats - speak with Vernon - they don't specialise in VW so no scene tax.

If you can do it yourself then material is only was around £20 a metre and I needed 8 from memory.

  9. Hi 1973daisy
Hopefully this may be of some use or inspiration.
Mt splitty had a Canterbury Pitt pop top but when I bought it the pop top had been bolted down and there was no mechanism or canvas.
I managed to source the frame then measured what size I needed the canvas - I had to get it spot on as I had no template!
Got a boat canvas specialist off internet & got them to sew the two ends together, so forming a sort of 'loop'.
Tied up the pop top (without the canvas on the Canterbury Pitt there is no rigidity, and it flops about all over the show and the pop top is HEAVY.
Slipped the canvas over the pop top, and secured it with stainless steel strips and self-tappers.
I was well chuffed with the end result, although the Caterbury Pitt model is a very high pop top.
    Here are some piccies..
