  2. Jimmy, where are you in SA? My relatives live in Glenelg, Adelaide. That's where I bought my first Kombi. I went to stay with them for 2 weeks in 2000, during which my Uncle spotted the '77 Kombi for sale (one owner from new, an elderly German couple who had really looked after it). He went and bought it for me and said 'why not stay a little longer and do a road trip'. And so began an 18 month exploration of Australia. Happy days!

  3. baydreams i live up north in Roxby Downs about 650 - 700 km from Adelaide its on my profile map :). I work in the underground mine here so its easier just to live here than drive back to the coast. I do 84hr weeks on a two week on one week off roster so i get out of town every two weeks. I head down to Adelaide and do hit Glenelg from time to time.

Where did you go on your trip? My partner Bon my son harper and I are going east then north up to QLD were i grew up. We are heading off at chrissy or just after.

  4. Any chance of some more pics of the search lamp dude
Im looking for somthing like that for my camper

  5. Took me a while to get one at a good price. Some were selling for over 200 pounds i got this one for 100 and its in better nick than allot that sold for more :)
Its a Raydyot pillar mounted search light.

  7. Haha yeah we get some strange looks when we pass 4x4s in the sand dunes, we had to pull one out of a bog with the kombi a few years ago ;D

Sounds like you had a baltravelingng round and yodefiantlyly clocked up some miles.
How bad did the cow get you ?
I grew up on the central coast of QLhaven'tvent been back for 11 years so i think it will be an eye opener. I cant wait to get on the road 8)

Put some floating floor in today :)
The black carpet picked up too much dirt.
Gypsyeyes has spots of rust here and there not much but its there and the paint on the top half needs a bit of a tidy up but she will stay that way until we have finnished our trip. We want to go off road, throgh the od creek, park on the beach and all that fun stuff without stressing about the paint and putting a ding in her.

  14. Not sure if you could track the plates but you could try kombiclub.com and ask around.
That was close with the cops man they are harsh on weed up QLD . In SA 6 or so years ago you could grow three outdoor plants and only get a pretty small fine :beatnick:
Its still pretty lenient down here ;)

  15. Working on the wood panel trailer today. I had a 4ft x 4ft trailer made in Adelaide
it wasn't quite what i had in mind when i picked it up. So this morning i got the welder out and fixed it up.
The plan is to put plywood sides on to give it a bit of a retro style O0

    The trailer came open ended
    [IMG]

so i boxed in both ends so the wood will sit nicely

and painted it up looks a treat i recon
