I think I have found the family records which both relate to Hull and I have sent Rob the details. So we wait for his response.
Nice one! I used census info when researching some of my lot Plus nearly all the males had served in the forces so that helps!
The grandparents passed away in 1976 and 1978 so not long ago and both records are for Hull Registration District. Rob has pm'ed me back and he is contacting Hull City Council as a first step to locating the graves.
Update for you all on the forum. I have found the information that Rob is seeking. The grandparents lived in Melton Cum Welton near Hull and later in Cottingham, Hull and I have given Rob the dates and location.
I found the basic records on findmypast website and even that was difficult because their Surname was very common, but thanks to Hull City Archives and the Hull Bereavement Services for their help over several telephone calls to trace the manual registers and confirm dates of death and burial details. The search websites often do not have all the records and can be misleading as myself and Rob found. Even with the basic death records, there is no link to burial or cremation details and folks may pass away in one place and be buried in another as was the case.
