So I’ve been tinkering with a leisure battery that wouldn’t hold a charge .. Tried all sorts of methods of charging to no avail .. emptied a bit of acid out and ‘cooked’ it with some Epsom salts and refilled the battery - voila , it charged and holds it , ran a cool box of it for a couple of hours and it was fine . so tonight I emptied it out , cleaned it out with a hose pipe and topped up with fresh battery acid .. fingers crossed .. what did surprise me was a rattle I got off it when emptying it As a sparky by trade I’m used to getting the odd belt but this took me by surprise , I never ever felt anything ever from a battery till tonight .. proper belt .. anyway .. thought you like to know .. I survived and feel somewhat invigorated
I know , never ever had anything like it , both hands were soaked in acid and I have a ring on each hand , I think I only felt the effect round one of the posts - couldn’t tell you if it was + or - though ... very weird , enough of a tingle to make me out the thing down and get some gloves on
Spoooooooky . As you're well aware, the chemistry of it means in can't generate more than a certain voltage. 'Tis not possible. Any strange lights in the sky round your way...?
Thinking about it in depth whilst I should have been sleeping , it’s maybe the same effect as sticking a pp3 battery on your tongue
If you have a slight cut in your skin you can get a shock, with conductive electrolytes. I have had a shock off a water covered 9 volt battery. Also if the leisure circuit has a fridge or something with a motor in it that can produce inductive kicks.
