Gathering the Viking Horde

  1. Doh sorry I've just seen the previous posts about this. Note to self- read before posting

  2. Fellow Viking owners...

Has anyone swapped out the old style Electrolux fridge for a new version? I notice that the 123e is taller and dispenses with the vent grill above the front door, presumably to vent at the top/rear. Wondering how to do this without cutting a hole above the fuse box cubby.

    Hi Gang,
just back from our first camping trip and all was very good. One problem though was the bed that sticks out came away from it's brackets. I knew there was a potential issue so had put some small brackets in but obviously not good enough. It seems to me that every time you pull the bed to close the roof there is going to be a potential weak spot but cant see how else to attach the bed to the frame o_O. Also judging by the holes in these photo's this is not the factory fit! Could someone tell me how there bed is attached please?
    Thanks
    Dave

  4. that looks like box section ally. They usually have L shaped ally that the board drops into and is self tappered to it. I drilled mine and put some small bolts through.

    Ahhh....that makes sense, thanks Dicky!

  6. I have a friend with a very nice Devon who is suffering from a growing family and roof envy, If anyone knows of a six or super Viking for sale, or even just a roof please let me know

  7. Problem - when it rains the water tracks around the canvas overhang and into the van when the slider is open. Soultion - either a new bellows with a flap around the edges of the overhang, a flap made of gaffer tape!!! Ive fitted an aluminium awning rail to mine screwed underneath to the metal bar. That works on its own but even better if you slide a Kador strip in there. Also works really well with a sun canopy as it makes it higher than if you put it on the gutter!!

  8. I was impressed by that at TE and may well give it a go myself shortly.

Have you used the rail for an actual awning? Wouldn't it leave a gap between the "tunnel" bit of the tent and the van?

  9. Spot on! With the awning, as opposed to the canopy obviously doesnt work if you want the awning close coupling to the van. In that case just fit using pole in gutter or figure 8 anto gutter. Im tempted to fit another awning rail to the metal roof though up near where the canvas joins to the van. Poles are fiddley and figure 8s dont always work in inclement weather!

  10. Yeah I realised after looking at the Easycamp website and then your picture and changed my question just as you were answering it!

I suppose one could make some sort of tent adapter to get it to fit snugly against the van. But really that sound likes a massive PITA.

Is there room to fit an awning rail into the tintop? Viking roofs are very fussy about everything being just so before they'll close properly.

Did @vanorak move from that chair at all last weekend?

  12. Difficult to say really. My Canvas is a lot thicker than the standard one which can be a pain when packing it away. I reckon theres room suppose its only another half dozen holes in the roof eh!

  13. NO!

  14. Here is Bertha being slightly swamped by her massive new Khyam driveaway sleeper awning

  15. Ive got one of them Careful with the slider. You should have the bus further forwards really. Greedy reayll a van that sleeps six and an awning with another 4 berths. Bigger than my house!

  16. Yep we took the awning for a test drive this weekend. It's going to be hired to my customers so I'm expecting damage...... but that's why I bought such a big awning. I'm renting Bertha to 9 people for Glastonbury!

  17. A spare place then! Ive actually got the annexe as well. I have a pic somewhere 10 people and enough space to eat dring and anything else for that matter. ive actually used the whole set up a couple of times . Its just a ridiculous mount of stuff to take. probably get shut of mine and get a smaller one!

  18. Has anyone got their viking near by? I need to know what kind of light bulb goes in the fitting above the table please if anyone can help!
