i am seriously considering all options for better mpg , hydrogen generators , and now even gas , we all know our vans are juicy at the best of times so any extra mpg or less costly mpg has to be considered .

Gas conversions , anyone got one, had one or know anyone who's had one , are they expensive to fit , are they worthwhile re cost and would you consider one ?.

Someone is quoting £1000 drive in drive out gas conversion. Unfortunately they can't do the job while Ive got Dells fitted. I would have to go back to standard carbs to get this price.

  7. I'm interested in this ?? but do you get a fuel gauge that works with it lol.And where would one put the stuff that would normally occupy that big space under the seat ??? Plus How do we know the government wont pull another stunt like they did with diesel?

In the past 4 years the cost of LPG has doubled over the price of petrol and diesel and with more hybrids out there it won't be long before they do inflate the price on the "green" fuel. And then anything LPG will probably be charged congestion tax like everything else.

And I too was told about converting to a single carb because it can prove difficult to balance.

  12. A neighbour of mine is having his classic car fitted with an LPG motor, but that's a 4.2 V8 in a Rover P6, so even with he hike in price it makes sense for him.

  13. I have a van that runs on gas, and it is great. Costs about £25 to fill up and lasts me a week and I drive it every day. Only thing its a little lower on power.

  14. @ Dookie what engine do you have ?

  15. We hired an LPG conversion from http://ecocampervanhire.co.uk/ last year before we got Arthur.

The lady said it was around £900 for the conversion. As a driver, it was a complete pain in the arras - it took FOREVER to fill up (at one garage it took me 15 mins to get to a fivers worth, I gave up after that and switched to petrol). We drove from Yorkshire to Kent and had to stop 4 times to fill up.

Also difficult to find garages with LPG. Tho I did really like the [glow=red,2,300]FACT[/glow] you could switch between petrol and gas if you wanted to.
