Fuel tank sender..which one?

  1. how can i tell which sender unit i need for my fuel tank?....bought tank with no sender

    does it matter...tube sender or lever sender....buy the cheapest?

    its not just the sender that's different the gauge is as well.
    Early vans have a tube sender that dampens the signal to the gauge.
    Later vans have a arm type sender and the signal is dampened at the gauge.


    Get it wrong and your gage will bounce around wildly.


    As a general idea if you have all black gauges you have a later system but if you have a Gray disc on your gauges you have a early system.


    As for what tank you have put up a picture and some one will tell you what sender fits

    Thats a early split screen not a Bay let alone a late bay

    well get off hear and ask on the SSVC ;D


    I would say it depends on what you want the dash to look like if you want a bay dash use a bay dash
    if you want the split dash use a split dash and a late bay tank with the arm sender and calibrate it


    If a custom dash use a custom sender/gauge

    Only one type of sender will fit. The tank will either have a hole with 6 x m6 theaded holes around it - cylindrical sender, or a twist on bayonet fixing - paddle type sender.

    I don't have a late bay either but they put up with me here. :) At least you've got a bit of one - you're in!
