Hello, The probability of somebody having a spare working fuel gauge for a 75 bay is slim..... But if anybody has one & would like to sell - we are looking for a replacement. Thanks, Jude & John. [Now have working fuel sensor & working voltage stabiliser..... but now the fuel gauge is Not!!!] Got to love the VW - always giving..... giving us headaches at the moment!!! Lol
Hi Gary, Our old fuel gauge is the grey colour. Our 1975 gauge is moving but has a judder & only reads 3/4!! Hope to get a fully functioning gauge. As long as your's is tested.... how much? Where are you based? Or postage to near Dartford, Kent? Thanks Jude & John
Wow, well it turns out that..... you need to adjust the fuel gauge to make it work... Panic over.... the gauge works.... took a lot of trial & error & test.... But we now have empty / half tank & Full The happy ending to a week of VW frustrations!!
Non genuine fuel sender? Have same prob, new sender only reads 1/2 when tank full, gonna try re winding my old sender! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Before you do that, fill up and measure the resistance between the wire from the sender (unplugged from the dash) and earth. That will measure the combined resistance of the sender AND wiring. Any additional resistance eg a bad connection will cause the gauge to under read. Full should be approximately 10 ohms. If you measure more and have access to the sender terminals, measure resistance across those terminals. The difference is resistance in the wiring and connections. Sort that out and the gauge will read correctly.
Ok, cheers will go check. weird thing is old VDO Gauge showed full when full but dropped to nothing when about 7/8 full! Found wires on sender worn right thru. Strange how it worked at all? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
