Hello again. My drivers door is getting crusty, my bus is a 73 ish with the petrol flap, I can get a pair of doors from a 76 ish bus (with the flush fuel cap) which are crusty, but able to be rebuilt, off the van and swapped. Anybody know if the doors are likely to be the same fit? Are there any distinguishing differences? Cheers
Fantastic, and yes as expected it’s not simple. But for £50 the pair I may chance it, or put the new ones on the bus so it can sit outside, while I weld mine up in the garage.
You can get conversion kits , I had to for my unmatched pair - not expensive Sent from my SM-G960F using Tapatalk
I fitted pre 76 doors as the 79 has smaller hinge pins, this is fixed by a hardened dowel pin pls a hole drill in the top for a door lock pin on the top edge.
Thanks all I think the doors are 75 so may fit, I’ll check before I pay. I pretty much bought the rest of the scrap bus in bits anyway. All the walkthrough seat metalwork was cut out and welded into mine to replace the bodged front seat mounts.
Just for an update, I picked up the doors at the weekend. They are the larger pin diameter so will fit, but have the lock buttons at the top, so I am sure they will be ok. Cheers for the help.
All the doors fit in the hole , early 68doors are a different shape at the step, the rest fit with inner door pull position, lock pull being the main differences
I feel I should point out that one side is going to be left handed and the other side right handed, this being the most substantial difference. (now all the sensible answers are given) I am sure that in the annals of parts buying this has been forgotten once or twice. Probably in a frenzy of shopping at a swapmeet somewhere..
