Going to see a dude about a Porsche in deepest Southampton at 12 ish, so likely after 2pm. Will you still be in bed
Nice try cat, but that's the wrong way round, the idea is if the ends come loose (which they won't until it starts to rot) they won't get dragged into the fan.
ha, i'll be up at dawns crack as usual! probably be out but will keep ya posted just in case. cheers for the offer
saturday lunchtime. must be time for a meltdown. AAA!AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH PIECE OF CRAP F&%@ ?&$#@ #$#@%&$# C&%$#$% MY HEADS GOING TO EXPLODE
guff day. after getting rear lights and carb sorted (engine been running loads of times, really sweet, carb been fine)wanted to get out for test run today. so undersealed front end of van before fitting front wheels. start van up and it wont run. turns.out carb leaking again so have minor nervous breakdown. want to kick the Marmite out of the van. followed by cup of tea and calm down whip off the carb, free off valve, refit carb, loose throttle cable through fan housing, rethread throttle cable, get running, reverse out very tight gate and rip off drivers door handle, ggggrrrrr, out for test drive round the block 9 times to annoy the neighbours and realise my brakes arent right. drive back in gate carefully, drain hot engine oil ready gor fresh refill and then give up. alwsys 1 step forwards, 2 steps back.
I wish my van actually moved Still not sure the engine won't just explode when I fire it up for the first time What carb have you got? I had a bocar that leaked a little - so bought (almost a year ago) a rebuilt original
Don't get me wrong, I'm made up that I can actually drive my van now (illegally!) but I really wanted to go for mot this week. Going to be next weekend now before I can do any decent work. During the week I can only do stuff while I've got baby to sleep during daytime. Half an hour or hour tops. Mine is a solex carb, dont think it's not the original though as I'm sure I remember a receipt for a carb in all the paperwork came with the van.
Keep the faith dude We all have all sort of set backs but you will get there soon enough and be grinning from ear to ear
Couple of hours on it today. Still starting and running fine phew. Had a fiddle with rear brakes, seem better but couldn't road test it so fingers crossed they'll be good when I can drive it. Connected up (in a fashion) heat exchangers, far from perfect but I am getting heat at the cab so it's better than before when I had nowt. Little bit closer
Oh yeah and removed the drivers door handle that I destroyed last week reversing out my tight gateway. Luckily my doors not damaged but one of the mounts which takes the bolt from the inside (to secure handle to door) has snapped so need to get a new door handle now. Boooo more cheap Marmite chrome coming......
Get a second hand one if you have matching locks or would like matching locks. The new ones are a different key profile and the barrels aren't interchangeable.
I don't currently have matching locks but that's something I would sort in the future so very interesting to hear. I had a look and saw used originals for £80 I think it was....is that right? Bloody expensive, that's why I was going to get a crappy repro for £15
£80? That's silly, put up a wanted add as long as you don't mind a bit of knackered chrome. The undersides tend to go worst so get one from the same side if you can so you won't see it.
Sorry mixed em up but not that much, new genuine £85 http://www.customandcommercial.com/...b_door_handle_with_2_keys_9fslash68-79_12420/ And used genuine £65 http://www.customandcommercial.com/...r_handle_with_2_keys_used_9fslash68-79_12682/ Haven't had a proper search, just stumbled on these.
