£3.12 or £45, big difference. What does it actually do? (layman s language please) how and where would I wire it in? And why is one more than 10 times more expensive?
The Solen should give better treble. Will be pretty subtle. Cheap one is fine, and at that price you can try the speakers with and without to see what works best. Wire in series i.e. between one of the two speaker wires and the speakers connections, either way round is fine.
Thanks, does it matter which of the speaker wires they go on? And with this on I could crank up the volume without damaging the speakers?
By the way, everyone who helped n this thread is welcome to pop round to the van for a beer and a listen to the speakers when we meet at a camp.
Doesn't matter which wire. Up to a point. You'll be able to blow them if you really try hard enough, but that's true of any speaker. The manufacturer recommends a more complex crossover to get a 100w power rating. With a simple capacitor in series you won't get 100watts of power handling, but they should take what your head unit can throw at them. FWIW, my recommendation would be to get some full range speakers instead before you go hacking up your dashboard, but if you've already bought these I can understand why you don't want to hear that!

haha, yes we'll have to wait and see. I've found a set of tweeters which would fit on top of the dash and may well splash out on an amplifier for under one of the seats.
I didn't know Max Bygraves had recorded on Deutsche grammaphon. Tulips from Hamster Jam is our favourite.
They do fit well, will be interesting to find out how they sound. I don't think you will need an amp.
