Might be worth considering mounting a decent 4.25 inch (I think?) In the standard speaker location in the centre of the dash above radio.
Yeah, I'm beginning to think its probably worth putting door speakers in as well as the tweeters in the vents. Get me, 6 speakers how cool am I?
6x9s in the back 6x9s in the doors You may need to route out some spacers from mdf for the doors Then an amp to run them and i bet you will have what you want without cranking the volume knob up full and listening to distorted music
No, I'm definately set on putting speakers of some sort into the vents. I could turn some mounts on the lathe if the tweeters are smaller than the vents, while googling I've seen speakers as small as one inch across. I will look at some door speakers though or maybe buy some new kick panels off of @Kruger depending on how long he'd take to make me some.
Krugers panels are your best bet then but as they are fiberglass id add some silent coat on the back Your never going to get any decent audio out of 3 inch full range speakers Krugers panels with some decent mids and then tweeters in the dash will work well Tweeters provide the tsh tsh sound Mids provide the bit in the middle And subs provide the boom boom Make sure you use crossovers so the speakers only get the frequency of audio they are meant to work with Adding an amp isnt always about max volume It takes the stress of the head unit and the losses it makes over long cable runs that we encounter in a bus Ok im taking my fairy head of now
An amp will kill a leisure battery pretty quick. Unless you want it booming the head unit will be enough. 6x9's are overkill up front. A decent set of components will be OK
i'd really think before cutting the door cards, you'll need to make sure the speakers and door cards don't come into any contact with the (lots) of water that goes in the doors, having recently removed my door card speakers and fitted new cards without holes and put my speakers in the kick panels i can honestly say they sound better there than they did in the doors.
In the past I've also ruined a set of door cards finding out that speakers there sound terrible. I have 2x 3" "all range" speakers hidden in vents in the back, 2x tweeters in the front vents... 2x 4" also in the front vent system in small boxes made to replace the bit that unscrews near your knees, can't find a picture. and a 10" powered bass speaker (sub) under the front seats. It sounds ok when parked but on the move it has to be so loud to hear it I generally switch it off unless I'm stuck in traffic. I could do with some 6-8" speakers as I have no lower mid range but can't think where to hide them.
Absolutely spot on, I've just replaced my door cars and put my speakers in the kick panels, much better sound and no water damage
Here's my latest discovery, these look ok and I reckon they'll fit and look tidy in the dash. https://audiovisualworld.co.uk/car-...-authentic-voice-3-midrange-car-speakers.html
I've worked with jet engines for years so I've probably only got midrange hearing. I found a couple that size for £15 but didn't think such cheap speakers wouldn't be any good.
