  2. You can get some "efficient" 3" speakers that are mid range and top frequency.
With a grille over the top they should look ok in place of the vents

  3. Look good, but you really need to find reviews. Nightmare if they are a lot of money for crap sound. £139 goes a long way in standard size speakers. Some components with tweeters in vents will be much better.

Yeah that's what I'm looking for but the problem seems to be getting one the right size to fit the vents. 70cm or 2 3/4 inches in real money.
I've found loads of tweeters that would fit but I'm looking for a 'normal' ? Speaker.

Thing is I don't want speakers down in the kick panels or in the doors.

I'll be knocking these out soon, which will allow proper speakers to be mounted in the kick panels, without them facing the floor....

  7. How about tweeters in the front, then 6x9s in the rear bed panel + maybe sub? Some people have found creative ways to hide the 6x9s

    Bose speakers...;)

  9. I reckon these are probably about what you could wish for really. Thing is you are driving a tin box so dont expect concert hall quality.I totally agree with your train of thought but it really is going to be noise when travelling in which case some decent speakers in the kick plates could do the trick for half the price. Bugger,re kick panels, you posted before I finished. Krugers kick panels look the nuts though.Anyway I,ve seen your music tastes and a rover biscuit tin would suffice.;)

  10. Pioneer TS875 & TS876 are custom fit 2way speakers for a Punto - because they're customs they don't come with grilles and they mids are a little bigger than the vent holes in dash - maybe make an mdf ring to space them by 1/4 " or so.
    Just a thought

I've got some 6 x 9's in the bed panel already but thought some up front would give me a better sound even if the speakers aren't top notch. @beatnick is right about my music tastes though, and I'm not to sure if your talking about an underwater boat or a foot long sandwich.

Yes I've been thinking I may have to open out the vent holes in the dash to 3 or 3 1/2 inches but if I can get a speaker which fits inside the vent tube all I'll have to do is block the other end up to have a ready made enclosure..

Aren't they for home use 240v?

  14. Tweeters will throw the top end forward and you may be surprised with the result. If you think you can hear enough base and mid range already. You could try with some cheap ones and see how you get on.

voltage is irrelivant, it's ohmage you need to worry about.

  16. Bose also make car audio - it's the upgrade option for VW / Audi but not sure they go that small.
If it's home audio speakers then they won't be as efficient as car audio.
Car audio is generally 4ohm, home audio is 8ohm - home is (laymans terms) quieter so therefore need more power to get same output.

Wasn't going to suggest opening out vent holes just in case you wanted to go back to working vents again.

Thanks for that, so I've only got a CD radio thing in the dash but its got wires for front and rear speakers. If I get tweeters in the front and wire as front speakers will that work properly?

As you can tell, you're not conversing with a dedicated audiophile here, but I do like me Bay City Rollers tunes. :)
