  2. Ooow. They look nice! What discs are you using? Adapters needed to fit to the spindles?

    they look nice :D

  5. "Performance" isn't often a word associated with Bay windows...

  6. They run on standard disc .the kit comes with adapters to fit original bolts on spindle carrier

  7. Them look like the Bee 's knee's, mine has standard discs and stops quite assuredly even fully loaded but, they would look great!

  8. Nice, always looking for upgrades if things wear out. Be nice to have rear discs so don’t have to adjust the shoes. That’s one job I never enjoy!

  9. Exactly , nice but overkill as you'll still have the same braking area , maybe less ??

You have to be careful. You can lock the rear wheels with stock drum brakes as all the weight goes onto the front even with stock non servo. Which is why there is the proportioning valve.
Overdoing it with unbalanced disc setups may make it worse than stock at stopping on a corner.

  11. Yes of course your right but, if outright safety was the only concern The bay probably wouldn't exist, this forum wouldn't and we wouldn't have the opportunity to share our thoughts.

  12. I looked at these but i couldn't justify the cost - i've upgraded brakes on several performance cars in the past but the bay i never felt really needed it, well adjusted stock brakes work ok as far as i can see. They look great though :)

  13. Yeah, my Bug had drum brakes on the front, they could be a little interesting after a couple of downhill stretches, so I changed them to CSP, but I never thought the Bay brakes needed upgrading. In fact, they're one of the parts that don't need much improvement, apart from the pain of adjusting the rears every year.

  14. The t25 has self adjusting brakes I think, and maybe some late late bays. My Haynes manual refers to self adjusting brakes, though it seems the drums were impossible to remove when worn. Does anybody know about this set up?

  15. @andyv That's interesting. I wonder if the T25 backing plates are a straight bolt on fit. It's not a difficult job every few months, but the progressively worsening of the handbrake etc annoys me.

  16. If it's like the old Ford setup, the adjuster is ratcheted a bit every time the handbrake is pulled on. Works fine for a while, then they clag up with brake dust and jam. Then you have to adjust them by hand anyway. Not the best design.

I always found them fairly useless.

  17. Ah yes, I had an Escort which did that. I vaguely remember the ratchet was on the foot brake.

  18. You may be right! Whatever it was, it was doomed to fail, IMO.

My Ford Fiesta was really annoying with those adjusters - they fill up with crud and rust - eventually it would go bang when you pulled on the handbrake and then the car would roll off.

  20. T25 brakes don’t sound like a good idea now! Think I’ll stick with stock! I did find someone in the states with a rear disc kit, but too much money for a stocker.
