Yes, the state oil company, told to back him by the (ex) President as he was a motorsport fan and thought it would make his country look good. In spite of oil, their economy is tanking, so how long they can justify throwing money at an also ran is debatable.

so it's official perez is out at mclaren and kovalainen is to race for lotus for the last 2 races (i believe they asked schumi but he declined) too many drivers not enough seats now could diresta be out of f1? or even hulkenberg?

 

I'd say either or both, Merc seem to have cut Di Resta loose & Hulkenburg may be too big. Perhaps we're heading back to the days of jockey sized F1 drivers like the mid 80's.
I'd like to see Kovalainen get a chance, I feel he's a lot better than he's shown

 

He was going there long before Massa. He announced the move to Williams shortly after Massa was given the boot by Ferrari

 

Is it just me or is it really nice to see Haki back in an F1 car, always liked him as a driver, never quite achieved what he deserved though.
