Fixer-upper?

  1. A tale of two. This bus probably just needed a good wash, panel reinforcements ;-) and polish. I’ve seen worse. Only paid 150 bucks for it and the ferry ride home to the island cost more. Started right up with a little petrol and gentle persuasion so took her for a little boot around the block. Seller said he could never ‘git er’ going and parked it so long that an ivy bush had enveloped it. Shame that it ran so well and that old Rosie enjoyed riding shot gun so much because I had other plans for it…for the greater good. A075659B-A2BF-4AC0-9BB8-A4E366C6D83C.jpeg

  4. Sadly, our 14 year old, golden retriever passed away a couple of months ago. She was a good old girl. As for the yellow van, I used many parts and I even cut out the top ‘gutter portions’ of the front window and welded those solid portions into the bottom edge of our green van’s bay window. When I removed the glass and seal, the exposed ditch was soaking, thin and rusted. Driving wind and rain and all that… I realized that the yellow bus was rotten to the core when I bought it and the price reflected it’s condition. A PO had attempted to prolong it’s life, apparently, by filling a number of rusted cavities with expanding, insulating foam. That, unfortunately retained even more moisture…needless to say, that van was soggy toast! A buddy of mine wants what’s left of the front clip to use as a fun, backyard barbecue bar. Plans to electrify the headlights and paint it some disrespectful, garish colour and so, in the end, I suppose that bus will party on!
