I haven't read the last 10 posts @Dickie, but can't help noticing Berties (hot/recirculating) exits the end and your's straight up - could you not organise to send yours out the end so you can route where you want?
Made temporary flue pipes out of some 22mm copper elbows and pipe. Quite a bit quieter. Everything works except LEDs on control panel/thermostat. Thats a bit of a pain. Locked ot out on gas and no lights doh. Will carry on and then get propex to look at it later.
Re duct outlets - For some reason the gas only (mine) is configured different to Dickys gas/ electric one.
I did consider it and might do something later. After all its just a hole in th cargo florr thats been patched before so no biggy. i have standard heating anyway. There were a few places i could have put it but i used to have my old propex in the same place but inside the bus and liked it there as it heats the back and the cab quite well and its bloody lovely if you need to thaw out. Just sit in the passenger seat with it reversed and a blanket over your knees. Lol.
It would make sense to do this in the long run but then again if im happy with the outcome..... Well see.
I'll read the other posts then - not looked at what you did, just remembered to pipes out the top quandry.
Interesting, my combustion silencer has made a big difference, now it's all fan noise inside the van and outside.
Inlet silencer on an eber makes a big difference too i believe. Cheap too. Which one did you fit on the xhaust
Std eber silencer via ebay, i think they are much the same to propex. Fan next, then if that works I expect I'll be able to hear the inlet but at the moment I can't (above the fan).
Flat bar was approx 40 x 4 mm, stud was M6 stainless IIRC plus stainless nylocks.... I didn't need to re route any cables...but I guess it depends on the exact location of the propex and any ducting used
biggest intrusion on the smaller propex is the fan whine, but you can tailor the duct lengths to tune it out a bit without reducing flow....will be the same for ebers I expect or if you're feeling technical, you could build a baffle box...I made one just for fun (! ) and you couldn't hear a thing.....would be suitable for a larger camper with more space...could be underslung I suppose
Thanks. With the flat bar have you spanned right across between the two chassis rails ( around 700mm) or have you used something else more central?
@vanorak - I think have got my head round supporting the Propex using a cradle made from flat bar, studding and nylocks. The bit I am struggling with is what the top bar is spanning. The offside chassis rail seems a logical choice but if I span across to the other rail it is going to be about 700mm which, even to me as a "non engineer" is gonna need a chunky thickness of flat bar to take the weight of the propex and avoid it flexing Thanks
The stuff I used spans the chassis rails (as you've already sussed)...no discernable flexing....I've just measured it: 50mm x 5mm aluminium flat bar
