Hi , I am fitting a new pop top to my Westie on thursday and was wondering if anyone can offer any advice please .I have printed off instructions and it basically says that I should remove the roof and fit the top of the canvas first making sure it is square on the roof then fit the lower. Is it when screwing down the lower using the clamps do I tension the canvas ? Thank you

I’ve done a few, poptop off, fix canvas to the poptop, poptop back on, fix to the van

  4. Is it possible to do it in place, is it or not worth the hassle?

Yeah but no, you can’t really do the reverse hidden staples on the poptop so it looks a bit amateur

All 3 I've done like that were ok. Yes it's a faff to get started, maybe easier with the roof off, but if circumstances dictate...

I know a few who have too, but it’s fiddly and roof off makes it easier and less likely to make a mistake

There’s corners and the edge won’t go around them without cutting an angle into it , try not to cut the outer edge

Thanks .No wonder I am struggling with this last bit .So with the help of a cereal box represending the canvas should I do a single A or cut a chunk out B ? 1620928364979-1681916598.jpg

1620993680127.jpg All finished but toke me ages especially fitting all the screws to the lower section.I did laugh in the instructions that it can take from 4 to 9 hours to complete

  17. Looks great, did you manage it with the roof on, did it have to come off?

I lifted the roof off and attached the canvas with staples and this was easy and almost an enjoyable bit .It was the lower bit that toke hours especially the corners .I managed to fit every small retaining screw apart from one that I just could not get to without fear of damaging the canvas .My advise is to make sure all your tools and hands are spotlessly clean as it's easy to make the canvas dirty .
