Fitting a fuel return to fuel tank

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Zebedee, Aug 20, 2011.

  1. I need to remove my fuel tank to sort out a little rot in the fuel tank bay and at the same time i'm going to give the tank a good cleaning and sealing inside in the hope of stopping the problems i've been having with blocked carb jets due to debris getting past the filter.

While its out and cleaned i'm thinking of getting a fuel return added to the tank so when i get around to fitting fuel injection i don't need to mess with the tank again.

Problem is i have no idea where on the tank the best place to add a return is.
    Top, bottom, side etc.

  2. The return on a standard tank that has FI is on the bottom. not far from the outlet. might be able to take a pic of mine if you want?

As mentioned above. It is plumbed like this:

Fuel line enters N/S of the engine bay and exits the O/S into the return pipe into the tank.

  4. You can pick up an FI tank for about £100 if i remember rightly.... would save you the trouble of messing about with yours...

If you can wait until November/December and are wiling to pay postal charges, you can have my old FI tank. It will need a paint on the inside though.
