Fan belt

  1. Can anyone offer any guidance on the most suitable belt for my standard 1600 type 1 engine?

Bought an optibelt 11.3 version but it's toothed, sure I've read somewhere never to use a toothed belt

I have been using that toothed Optibelt for some time. After 1000 miles it needed one shim moved over. Not unusual.

In fact with all new pulleys its been a pleasure, it has been a long while since my setup allowed me to use more than one shim..

  3. Optibelt 11.3 x 912 will do nicely.

  5. Don’t think it’ll matter that it’s toothed. They tend to work better around smaller pulleys. I prefer the solid ones.

If you still have your old one, wrap it up into three circles and pop it in a sandwich bag and hide it in the back of of your passenger seat as an emergency get you home spare because you know it fits.:)

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,,do the same with old points and condenser:)

like you can do with those silly little pop up tents. I think it’s better to have something that you know fits / works just to get you home. Or try getting a fan belt on a Sunday afternoon and knowing it’ll fit?:)
