368EEE46-E8E6-4405-95B5-ECBEC0AA0E69.jpeg Hi, thinking about renewing old exhaust. The one in the pics was fitted by previous owner.

Anyone know anything about this type? I guess it’s not stock? Looks like an empi type or Monza?. Sounds ok, nothing special, quite blat blat, looks crap.

I’d like a stainless steel. Vintage Speed get good reviews, but I like twin tail pipe exhaust look (ever since I was a kid, jags etc) and I prefer the blat blat sound rather than the vroom vroom!

The JK stainless twin tail pipe one looks good but Late Bay does not seem to be fans.

Maybe asking for something that doesn’t exist.

Getting something custom made might be an option if you don't find what you're after. I very nearly got ours custom made for about the same price of a VS, but heritage were having a sale which tipped the balance for me.

  5. If you fit an exhaust with equal length pipes, your blatt-blatt will be gone, I'm afraid.

Good idea to ditch the Monza, tho'

    Does it need replacing?

Looks really nice, but they’re quite raspy, vroom vroom sound, would you agree?

definitely throatier than a stock exhaust. You don't get the "putt putt" sound that a stock exhaust sings.

Fair enough. Personally I'd leave it until it needs replacing. Its not even as though it'll be going anywhere for the foreseeable!

Yeh, the unequal pipes - mine’s very symmetrical, straight off the heat exchangers.

It’s my first air cooled engine so may be rather than vroom it sounds ‘flat four’ , so almost no tail pipe vroom. I quite like the absence of vroom, as I associate that with sporty, and my bus is just not sporty.

So I guess with my engine and heat exchanger set up the bus would have never had unequal pipes and therefore never blat blat.

Just want a stainless exhaust that doesn’t change the note too much.

This is what a CSP Python looks like with the Empi twin quiet pack that it replaced.

The original posting is a twin quiet pack.

I had one of these, then just replaced it with a more free flowing stainless JK single quiet pack - the collector part is larger than the EMPI/Bugpak and the rust is infinitely less .

Interesting, what was the perceived sound difference?
