Engine lid lock wouldnt unlock, button stuck part way in. Thought if i drilled the barrel out it would open, but no ! How can i get this open to replace the lock?? Any help appreciated
I think you have to prise it, but wait For better suggestions first. Pic of the fixed part , as you can't see yours, gives you idea at you're prising against.
The fixing screw can be be your next point of attack if you cannot reach the striker plate screws through a T4 style engine access hatch. So you would have to drill below the operating button, its an M5 steel screw in a die casting (or plastic if a recent locking latch) , probably about 5mm below the button. Or maybe better drill right through the lock barrel hole and try and first push on the lever that lifts the latching bit of the lock. And then if that doesnt work, cut down either side of that steel lever to cut through the pivot pin which is at the bottom .. a junior hacksaw blade wrapped in insulating tape one end should work..
Spray loads of WD40 on. Push hard around the lock area until it takes the pressure off the catch and wobble the lock itself it sometimes frees it.
Mine (type 1 engine) I pulled the engine seal down from underneath managed to get my hand in by pushing the rear tin up then with a small stumpy screwdriver I undone the two screws holding the catch. Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk
The No Have you a pic of the lock it’s self, give me some idea of how the mechanism works and where to drill
