On the downside, my new energy supplier (no names, no pack drill, you’ll see why later) put my monthly dual fuel bill up from £100 to £374, which I thought a bit above the rate of inflation, even if there is a war on. My old supplier, which I thought I’d done so well to switch to after watching a Martin Lewis programme, had gone bust overnight. I’ve been doing monthly meter readings and my bill is now £274, but weirdly the new energy Co recently sent me a ‘sorry you’re leaving us’ letter and a cheque for £490. It had my name and address, but that’s not my account number, I checked as I was worried I might get cut off. Maybe there’s a good reason, like credit from my old supplier. However I’m not going to ring up and make a fuss, the £490 is currently ‘resting in my account’, as Father Ted put it.
Not so fast lad. My dopey electricity supplier waited 13 months before sending me a bill so they had to write off 80 quid because they can't charge for unbilled electric used more than 12 month ago! I'm not complaining about getting a month's free electricity!
