Does anybody have experience of fitting the EMPI wind deflectors.

I’ve read the instructions countless times and can’t work it out. They seem to fit in quite snug between the felt and the glass but it seems from the instructions they should be between the felt and the door frame.

However, between the felt and the door frame I have a silver coloured trim. If I put it between that trim and the felt the drill holes stick outwards so I’d be unable to screw them in place.
To put them between the plastic trim and the door frame I would have to cut the plastic, is that what you are meant to do? I've never fitted any, but a customers T25 in the workshop has them fitted inbetween the glass and the felt. No idea if that's right, but they seem to stay in place OK.

You may be suffering from bling overload and need to make a choice about how to redesign one or the other item as it looks like the choice is one or the other fits in the same place.
I have a set of JK ones which just dont fit, or if they fit you can not shut the window. So I tried hacking them and put them back in the box.
Bought in the first months of starry eyed ownership before realising that actually the airflow doesnt need messing with, as the rain tends not to come in with the window open a crack, and when its hot you need all the breeze you can get..

There’s a pair on mine that have been there since before I bought it; so once they’re on, they’re on!
I’ll have a look later how they were fitted.

  7. ‘Bling Overload’, I like it, currently in my second year of ownership. These are JK ones but when they arrived it turned out they were EMPI. The reason behind them is a practical one but time will tell if they work.
The only windows I can open in the van are the front ones when driving, not sure the Louvre Window would stand up to it. What this means is that my dog overheats in the back or my wife ends up looking like Medusa with both windows wound down. The dog has won each time so far!

I think these are for when you're parked up? Opening 1/4lights for the win - they deflect the wind from the main window and turn past 90 degs to scoop the air in if required.

  9. I’d like opening quarter windows, not currently fitted. Maybe one for the future.

  10. Yep- I call them the Air conditioning

I found my Devon louvres have a habit of snapping closed somewhere around 50mph . That is the rear more used one..
So I have a piece of 3mm shock cord attached to the handle which goes up to a bit of loops Velcro that can be stuck to a strip of hooks glued to the top of the window frame. By adjusting the velcro and hence the elastic tension," the louvre window can be persuaded to stay open at 65mph

  15. We tried fitting @Barry Haynes with wind deflectors, but it didn’t have much effect.

  16. Cheers Baysearcher,
The bizarre thing is when I put mine between the beading and the felt the screw holes pointed outwards. I’ve e-mailed JK to see if I’m missing something.
