Different links to the same pump; the second link I gave was the Webcon, the first was the CB Performance. I use the CB wired through a fuel injection relay.

  6. Aye Sorry 77 Westy.

Is it the fuel injection relay that automatically primes the pump for a few seconds as you turn the key? do you have a wiring diagram. I have just used a standard switching relay and a push switch to prime the carbs should I need to.

Yes, the relay runs the pump for a few seconds as soon as the ignition is turned on, then it only runs whilst there is a pulse from the coil so if the engine stops so does the pump. http://www.ratwell.com/mirror/www.dolphinsci.com/relay.html

Relay p/n 321-906-059C seems to be available from VWH for £14.30 in 2 or 3 weeks. http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_act_vw...cSearchType=pnum&classicSearchText=321906059C

Or from stock for £42.50. http://www.vwheritage.com/vw_spares...-321906059C_act_shop.product_pID_16385727.htm

Don’t run an electric pump without a relay - either triggered from the alternator/generator lamp or the oil pressure switch or a fuel injection relay as above.

  9. Hi dude if I want to run a normal relay for my new pump could you let me no what I have to do bit new to this wireing game electronic pumps and stuff never needed one before now cheers dude

  10. I'm running a huco low pressure pump on my twin dels :)

Here's a simple fuel pump wire diagram, there's quite a few different ways to do it as well

The question crops up on VZi all the time; this recent thread has some options using standard 4 and 5 terminal relays. http://www.volkszone.com/VZi/showthread.php?t=1042426&highlight=pump relay Speedy Jim solution is neat but you’ll need a couple of diodes as well as the 4 terminal relay. Mr Whippy uses a 5 terminal relay and a by-pass push button.

I found it easy to use a fuel injection pump relay, you turn the key, the pump fills the carbs and the engine starts, you don’t need a relay by-pass. If the engine stops so does the pump – just follow this link, there are only 5 wires to connect. http://www.ratwell.com/mirror/www.dolphinsci.com/relay.html

  12. I guess it would also be OK to piggy back the relay +12v pump feed to a fuel shutoff valve under the bus.

  13. Based on advice in another thread on this subject, I was all set to get a relay & a CB performance Fuel Pump which supplies a constant 3.5lbs.

However I've just spoken to my engine builder who told me that dells prefer 2 - 2.5lbs pressure. He told me it didn't really matter if the fuel pump was mechanical or electrical, i just needed the ability to regulate it.

So how do you regulate the pressure in electric fuel pumps such as the CB performance one or should i just stay stock and fit a regulator - such as a filter king?

You could and that’s what I did, through a remote central locking/alarm.

  16. that will be absolutely fine....

  17. momentary push switch will be fine, although you could really do with a way to cut the +ve supply to the pump in an accident, or if the engine cuts out.....i've just done mine using the same pump, but used a 3 pin oil pressure switch...(Transporter '79 and Campmobile part)....this energizes the pump when the engine cranks over, and as soon as it's up to pressure, the second contact closes to take over....this takes power directly from the battery......if the oil pressure drops below 3 PSI, +ve supply is cut....I'll be fitting a ford inertia switch at some point, which will bin the power if you get rear ended....bit belts and braces, but worth it for very little expense
