  1. Hi,
As per title does anyone know the wire colour that was the old blue alternator lamp wire.

On EJ20 engine. I want to fit split charge but need the (old) blue wire which obv is no longer there.
I've got black, white and yellow
    Thank you, Pg

You could just use a VSR that doesnt need the blue wire?

  3. Thanks Dubs but that's what I'm moving away from, just taken it out, I've been getting cross over so decided to fit hd relay.

Fair enough. Its been years since I done my Subaru loom, so cant remember. I would imagine the fat wire goes to the battery, so can you just put a volt meter on the other two wires, to see which one goes live when it starts charging?

  5. Thanks Dubs.
I've had a look around the net and looks like it's the skinny black white one, I'll do a check tomorrow

  6. No output like that, VSR is the only way

But if he wants/needs to separate the batteries when charging the leisure from the mains a VSR will close. I suppose it’s the engine ECU that drives the charge light on a Subaru so can’t he tap into the wire from the ECU to the light? Next best would be to just trigger the relay from the ignition circuit.

  8. Solved. Got some more input from @pkrboo and used the yellow ign wire to trigger a relay to provide (make/break) the earth supply to the VSR

It sounds complicated but it's not once it's together. In a nutshell the ign 12v comes on, the VSR is alive (has earth). Ign off, relay de energised and breaks contact, no earth it goes dead.

Brilliant ;-) no cross over when I'm charging LB and the voltage is at VSR level.
Thank you ! Learnt a lot today.
