what makes you think you're ever going to need vented discs? it's not like you're going to race it or we live in mountainous areas? the standard brakes in good order should be fine surely? i'm sure if you want better pads or calipers you'd be fine but really? uprated discs - why?

Cheers Mh - It will be a massive learning curve.

  7. No you can't... this is due to the increased thickness of the discs (vented/non vented) :)

I am doing this for twenty year olds mate. I will make sure and double sure. Obviously the standard brakes are good for a 2 litre 1.4t van at 65 70, but with the kids giving it large on the motorway with a 100+ bhp scooby it's a different scenario. I know they will tell me they won't be going that fast, but you can't tell me they ( or anyone with scooby ) wouldn't be showing the Audi drivers what it can do!

  9. as in Schindler...
    :)

  10. Ever been in a van with uprated brakes over standard ones??

Not having a pop, but you are right, standard brakes should be enough... but with modern day traffic with abs braking systems, then it is very easy to get caught out!! :)

Realistically you should be able to upgrade the front brakes using merc sprinter parts.. I've as yet to sit down and test this as yet... but it has been on my back burner for a while!! That way, you can upgrade your front brakes for as little as £300

vented discs won't make it stop quicker, they stop the pedal fading as fast due to heat dissapating quicker that's all i'm saying.

  12. Technically, they will stop the van quicker, as they won't heat up as quick, thus little to no brake fade!! ;)

You asked a fair question Rick. The answer was a balanced one. If it was for me I may be inclined to save the cash and drive as I always do. But when it's the kids you have to think about the increased bhp and brake response. personally I like vented discs and the response they give. I also like abs but think that is going a bit far!

  19. Sills are crewcab specific, but you can use splitty outer ones.. I can't remember what the inners are..

  20. Machine some spacers to sit between the stock caliper halfs and use longer bolts maybe
