  1. Not to sure which one to go for. I like the idea of diesel as there will always be somewhere nationaly to fill her up. If you have one or the other, or know of any serious pros or cons could you let me know!!
    Ta!

  2. We've got an Eberspacher and it's terrific, it only needs to go on for a bit and the van is toasty!!!

  3. i've got a eberspacher d1lcc diesel night heater in my van i love it!!!! i chose it as you can get diesel anywhere in the country and your not looking for bottled gas supplies that are open sunday night, it get's roasting hot in less than 30 seconds and gets van red hot in less than 5 min plus it was nearly new when i bought it and cost £250 from vanfest plus the only thing i've ever done to it in about 4 years is to swap the glowplug

  4. do you have pics of the eber installed and how you did your tank for the diesel

  5. the heater is mounted under the side seat (think westy continental) and the exhaust exits at 45 degrees under the sill, the heater runs of the main engine tank as my van has been converted to diesel but i have worked on quite a few landrovers the ran seperate 5 or 10 litre tanks for there eberspachers (or webasto) heaters so they could run them on red diesel when parked up hope that helps

  6. I would go for diesel cheaper and will run for ages. just remeber either one is a drain on your battery/
    flat batt no heat/

  7. I've got a petrol eber in mine running off the campers petrol tank so i'll always have fuel.
I've got all the manuals as pdf files if you need them.

  11. Why not go for a petrol Ebers? Easy to tee off the tank. They only consume about half a litre an hour.

They only pull a high current when they're starting, then just enough to run the fan. As above, the older ones will start themselves more often - more modern ones just slow the pump and fan down, so don't keep pulling current.

  12.
  13. Your tank holds 50 litres. That's four day's worth at 1800 watts.

    A B1LCC is nice.

  14. Will have a propex one for sale at the holton show runs off the main gas bottle worked very well in my mates old bus but now its died (thanks to a pikey ) was nicked and damaged so pulled out all that we could before it was taken away by insurance 8) be selling it at around £250 with all the bits to go with etc temp box with the switch thingy and found the booklet as well ;D will also have a hot water heater pump and water tank poss £200 for that but if anyone interested from late bay at the show mite do a deal etc ;) :) :) but ya have to find me at holton vw show :) :)

  15. I've got a propex which I was going to fit along with a leisure lpg tank for the heater and cooker.
Propex's are as good as eberspacher in performance what put me off was the fuel. Didnt want petrol and diesel is a third fuel to carry.

    But

Thinking about it, I think I made a mistake and I'm seriously considering a diesel eberspacher.
Fuel consumption on high is only .2 litres/hour so a small 5 litre marine fuel tank, which you can buy slimline versions of which tuck in anywhere, would last ages.

So I'd seriously consider an Eberspacher D2, about £800 new 300-400 ebay, easy to service, safe fuel.

    Cheers

  16. If you're considering an Ebers, I would go for one of the more modern ones. I got a B1LCC for £400, but was lucky!

Parts for the older ones are pricey, and things like ex-BT diesels have seen a lot of use...

  17. Awesome. Thankyou for all your replies.keeping an eye on the diesel ones on ebay now. Seem to get a decent one for around the £200 mark. Just ordered a new exhaust tho so may have to wait another month ready for the cold season to start!

  18. There are some good ones at the moment. Good luck! (I won't be investing right now)

  19. i got lucky last december and bought a d2 12v airtronic diesel heater brand spanker for £650 two yr warranty, all fixtures and fittings, fits under rnr bed with seperate fuel tank.uses 0.2ltr of fuel/ph.
should be nice and warm next time i'm out in van, just finished fitting after getting van back from paint resto.

  20. Did you get one yet BNB?

I'm torn between these two - Propex 2000hs from Blue bird http://www.bluebird-type2.co.uk/heat.htm
    OR
A webasto petrol Airtop 2000 from here http://www.mellorautoelectrical.co.uk/Truck_and_Marine_Heater_Kits/852/Webasto_AirTop_2000ST_12v_One_Outlet_Kit_-_2.0KW_Petrol.html

I was put off the eber webasto when reading up on them by some people saying they are noisy can anyone confirm/deny this? (i don't want it to be firing up in the wee hours and upsetting the neighbours on sites)

I really cant decide which is better, thing I'm trying to take into consideration are - cost of course, Purchase cost more than running cost, and as has been mentioned the ease of getting fuel, noise of running^, ease of plumbing, and probably most importantly HEAT output, which kicks out the most heat on a cold cold night?

    Sorry for the threadjack BNB:)
