Drive away awning help please

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by sarah, Feb 20, 2012.

  1. Hello everyone, I am finally getting a 1972 camper with original devon interior, very excited as I have wanted one for 20 years. I am very baffled by which drive away awning to get. I was going to go for a Khyam driveaway sleeper but some reviews say the poles crack. Any recommendations really appreciated!

  2. next time you go to a meet have a nose round at the awnings some reviews say , this bit blanked out so as not to upset anyone.

  3. Get the quickest one to put up and down and easiest to dry

Khyam usually get pretty good reviews on here but some people don't like them. There have been a couple of threads recently which I can't link to on my iPad but if you search they'll turn up.

Just bought a Khyam myself so soon find out if it's any good

Welcome to TLB by the way :)

  5. Used mine for 32 nights last year no problems

    Khyam = Good.

  7. Make a shortlist of the ones that fit in your budget and are the right sort of size, then see what folks say about the particular models.

Welcome to TLB by the way

  8. We've had our Khyam for 4 years now, second hand from a friend, and had no problems so far! Well built and designed and quite easy to erect (ooh erh missus) ::) We even use it in the garden when inlaws come to stay, summer months only that is :cold:

  10. hello and welcome.. depends on what you want one for. theres 2 of us and we have a sumer awning we made which is perfect.

  11. I have a kyham drive away and it's great - as with all tents awnings you have to allow it some give to move in the wind - some people make out them up so solid that any force would break it. Had the kyham 2 years and it's easy to put up. Good amount of space and folds down to a reasonable size

  12. thankyou everyone for all your replies, getting my van in 3 weeks can't wait!

  13. We had our Kyham 3 years and its been great, quick n easy to put up and take down, this always helps, saves an argumant with the Mrs.lol

Outwell Country road here, more expensive but better quality (in my opinion)

If you're tall look carefully - loads of them you can only stand up right in the middle.
I've got one I should sell, It's massive tradditional style and Blue. :)

Oops - no that's the wrong one. It's same style but a bit bigger than that, and blue not purple. I'm not helping am I? :-[

  18. We got a Khyam motordome classic. Had it for about three years now and has been up and down around 30 times and still going strong :)
