  1. As some of you know, when you replace the bushes on you bay etc generally it sometimes feels a little better, or as in my case not at all!!
Heres my 'How to change gearbox linkage bush' because many vw owners get stuck for a new/recon box costing hundreds of pounds, the reapir is about £20 and a few hours work, including and refitting the gearbox.
If you suspect your gearbox is at fault here are the parts you'll need. ( i got mine from http://www.bearsmotorsport.co.uk/ )
    Selector bush and seal

    Rear casing gasket

Obviously you need to remove the gearbox and then stand it up on end, you don't have to drain the oil but it might be worth it if you replacing worn parts.
Stand the gearbox on end and undo the 11mm bolts that hold the rear casing on.

Remove the casing and you see the selector linkage, i'm holding the 'hockey stick' in place for the picture, if you look carefully you'lll see that there is no selector bush in this one i'm doing!!!

Here it is in the bottom of the gearbox.

There is a pin that passes through the linkage and holds it in place, remove this and lift the linkage out, it's easier and self explanatory when you see it.
once the linkage is off put in your new bush, the bush goes in through some flats and then you turn it 90degrees to bring it to where you see in the picture.

Put the new selector seal into the rear casing.

replace the linkage and pin, put the 'hockey stick' into the new bush and locate the rear casing on (after cleaning up the mating faces and putting the new gasket on!!)

retighten the 11mm nuts down, top up/refill with EP80/90 Gear oil and check the level in the level bung. Put the gearbox back in and feel the benefit.
