It means I think it’s wonderful, and I’m surprised Devon themselves, never had it as an option.

  2. I posted the thread in response to a post by @woollywelshbloke and in case it was of use to anyone else.

Im not suggesting you or anyone else should do it, like it or even be indifferent about it.

    I’m glad you did, mate.

  5. What’s the awning rail solution?

  6. I like it too, really unique.

  7. Mount a c channel awning rail on the flat bit of devon roof.

The flat bit is held down inside the van by screwing through the existing aluminum strip that holds down the canvas bellows.

The awning rail c channel bit is on the outside of the van. Easy to slide the beading on a sun canopy into it and higher than the sliding door.

When the roof is down you cant see the rail.

Its a very simple but effective way of mounting an awning rail to a devon roof.

Pole and clamps often don't work with a devon roof as the gap is uneven between the gutter and the bottom of the fibreglass.

  8. Must look magical with snow on it.

You could probably have a more rigid sliding cover, rather than a popper canvas one.

  10. Thanks @paulcalf for this. Really interesting and it looks like a great solution to allow you to enjoy the stars on a clear night and have headroom.

As an explanation folks, I have a Paris Beetles ragtop roof and toying with swapping it over for a pop-top (maybe, at some point, perhaps....)

  15. I suppose you have to be careful with cleaning so not to scratch it
Do you use Just use a hose or jet wash?

  16. Great question as i forgot to cover that.

I was told just to use water on it, no soap or cleaning product.

So i just use a wet sponge if i clean the polycarbonate.
