Deformation panel bolt holes

  1. Thanks for all the suggestions from everyone

I’ve been reading round the net and it appears that rivnuts are a lot stronger than I imagined.
So I’m either going to drill the dodgy one and fit an M8 rivnut or drill them all and go up to M10 rivnuts.

An M8 rivnut is already 11.1 mm diameter.

  3. So 11.1 mm hole required?
What diameter hole is needed for a M10 rivnut?

  4. 13.1mm

... a little bit bigger and you could weld an M8 nut in from the outside!

Rivnut sizes do vary slightly, always best to measure the ones your going to use

back bumper has had 4 x M12 rivnuts holding it on for years, tested with my slender figure before paint :D

I had this issue on one of my vans I hacksawed a third of the way down an M10 bolt in cross closed the end slightly with pliers and slowly tightened it up using wd40 as a lubricant. I got away with it but I would rather have had the tools to do it properly!
