  1. Here is a thread to keep track of my dashboard refurb.

Dash arrived today curtesy of pkrboo.

got straight too it by stripping of the old 70's style vinyl and foam.

  2. Got it all off now and ready to begin cutting and stuff.

The idea is to fill the little round holes i dont need for the switches and knobs. Fill the ashtray hole. have it all sanded down nice and smooth and have it powder coated. (Colour undecided. Either white or black)

The round vents will be replaced with some small midrange speakers.

My welding skills are still lacking so gonna have to pimp that bit out im afraid.

  3. Sorry for the multiple posts, my ipad keeps freezing for some silly reason, Anyways here it is stripped and ready for cutting.

I didn't realise they had the funky louvres in the lower corners! might make for an interesting mod!

  10. Please tell me you didnt :(

I would have swapped you a padded dash for my non padded one and i would have done all the modifications you wanted doing to it to it

  11. Honestly though do what you like its your own bus and your own blank canvas
Most of my bus will upset the purists and i kind of like that in a little rebel way

Its just i love the padded dashes on bays but i dont see them come up for sale often or many people wanting to swap them for a non padded dash

The padded dash was a delux option for most busses i just think they look better

  15. The radio slot needs enlarging to take a modern din sized radio but it can be done using a finger file and a steady hand

My bus is being built with practicality in mind first and foremost

I know rhw padded dashes weight more so it a case of asthetics over form
However im only human and [added dashes i like the look of and i like poking and squishing them

No, I'm just being facetious :p

Visually I prefer a white painted dash with all the trimmings cleaned and blackened properly with a wood rim steering wheel. Is that a bit too prototype bay? :D

  17. Im guessing the thread title was wrong then. As in modifying not restoring lol

I like the idea of white but im not sure what it would look like up against the black top with the grab handle.
