Custom air ride on daisy

    This is all I took today as was talking to moons bout lift at the time
    But have jade the top air bag mount (used same template as other side
    All so the shock re location mod copied over and welded to lower arm
    Allso measured over the centre level arm and made bracket (needs a clean up ) and started making the bag strut with another old shock same as other side will take pics tomorrow (if I choose to go welding not trimming )

  2. Back on the other side had a busy day today made the air bag strut and extended beam allso had to get me x2 new grinders both burnt out last week and then my welding earth clamp snapped hoping to mock it all up tomorrow and get so I can get it home to fit new interior

Had a busy week not much to see really as just making the same the other side and beefing it all up a bit more and not cleaned it all off really painted a bit the 1 side fully greased up the beam and all joints ect and built it up and took it fir a rip up the lanes ..... have to say it's very smooth and quiet not knocks ect but will give it a good test tomorrow on way home to fit interior and then strip it all check it's all good and clean and paint it all

    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

    You can now relax knowing it's not possible to be any lower! ...or is it?... body drop next year for the last inch or two? :D

  6. No mate I'm happy at this mate !! Gonna sort all the little bits out ect need to make a exhaust shield to get gassed out ect allso wrap the pipe ect to keep heat off bumper and general finishing touches

  9. Drove it about a bit today and can now get into petrol stations and drive easy never scrapped once so smooth to drive and quiet

    But now tome to have the Vw show at home for my boy's birthday would of been his 1st show so camping in it [​IMG]

  10. Right been so busy at work trulting to catch up not had much time recently but been gathering bits, started with a rust free door old one was far to gone tried to fix it but had already been botched never knew !
    So made it fit my massive tubs and skim of filler here and there and I hope to get a few coats of filler primmer on it this week [​IMG]

    Due to this COVID and the amount of welding Iv done with the air ride I'm gonna paint it this summer instead of winter

    That door will do strange things at the bottom without some gussets either side of the tub cutout. It will flex where you have just a sheet of metal going up either side of the hole. If you build up the paint enough on the outside it might crack ..

    I am definitely looking to seeing you and your bus soon...great work in insane times !


    Certainly puts my bodge welding I am doing to shame ... "getting annoyed at cardboard or aluminium air hoses burning up on the stainless exhaust, so I am fitting stainless hoses instead" (bits of exhaust)

  13. That "sheet steel" is 3 mm thick amd is solid have made sure don't panic also it goes a lot further up the door than u can see welded to the supports

  18. Oh yes mate coat of filler primer on this and front bumper tonight sand down tomorrow and then another coat on the bottom half sand again
