I know someone caught in the 50 limit on the A631 in Notts (50 limits everywhere in Notts), but for average speed over the distance. According to the local Cornish paper, the SPECS on the 40 limit on the A30 road works has been a really good earner for the council.
I'd never driven a cruise control equipped vehicle of any kind until a couple of years back when i hired a new tranMarmite for the weekend to empty Frans Grannys house after she died. Got on the M6 at Kendal junction 36, switched on cruise at 70 and didn't touch the pedals again for 135 miles until i got to the M5. Really want it in my caravelle but i don't do enough long journeys to get much use out of it.

I use it constantly even around town as I have a heavy foot and I find myself speeding. This aquaplaning lark is a load of tosh. Doesn't matter whether you use cruise or not going faster than the weather and roads allows will mean you would aquaplane, set the cruise at the speed the road will allow same as you would regulating your speed with your foot. Not paying attention to the road and what's on it is the problem.
