  1. All service engineers can drink coffee as an Olympic sport........which reminds me, how is your new machine?

I cancelled my service contract with BG in January 2018. Our boiler had broken down and I rang them to get it repaired and was told that as I wasn't elderly, disabled or fell into any category as 'at risk' I would have to wait 2 weeks to get an engineer to look at it. At this time it was very cold with lots of white stuff on the ground and with us having a combi boiler there was not hot water as well as no central heating. For 2 weeks I had to 'nurse' the boiler checking/refilling it every 2hrs or so just to try and keep the house warm and allow the family to wash/bathe. Two weeks passed and on the day I was to get an engineer I received a phone call stating there was no engineer and my appointment would be rescheduled for 2 weeks time as I wasn't elderly, disabled or fell into any category as 'at risk'..... now I'm not going to deny I lost my rag and was less than polite with the person who phoned me...I think they told me I could not speak to them like that to which I think I replied with something like 'think yourself luck you're not stood in front of me right now as I'd have broken your nose by now.
It turned out that 13 days earlier the policy had renewed so I quickly phoned up and cancelled it within the 14 day 'cooling down period'. I also made a formal complaint that I had paid for a breakdown service and they were unable to attend and wouldn't have been able to for a further 2 weeks. My complaint was reviewed and BG agreed with my complaint and paid me £50 compensation.....yet my monthly payments were £70 so I didn't even get a full months payment back.

Swore I would never use BG again and changed service providers for all my utilities to get as far away from the to##ers as I could. I now have boiler cover with a local company who actually do a full yearly service instead of just sticking a sensor up the flue to test the exhaust gasses. When I cancelled with BG my boiler was 6yrs old and when the new company took over they stated the seals within the boiler should have been checked and replaced at 4yrs......I can not explain my loathing for BG enough.

Horses for courses. They’ve always been fine for me!

  4. Well, I was disappointed today to get a letter from BG saying, regretfully, that my BG cover had expired. That was news to me, as I hadn't actually signed up for it. Ever. A year's worth was given to me "free", apparently, out of the blue. So kind.

If they try the same with you, get on the BG site and change the renewal to "Manual", or they'll be docking you a renewal charge every year for something you never asked for.

  5. I got that a lot when I worked with them. At the time they’d done a deal with a mortgage provider, might of been nationwide. Anyway lots of confusion as half the time the new home owners had no idea what they’d signed up to.

if you want a true reflection of what they are really like, log in to that Facebook and read the comments section on their adverts. I refer the readers to a comment I made some posts ago regarding my unwillingness to give them the evaporation from a particular bodily fluid.

  6. I saw the pic of a bare arse with "Kiss Me BG" written on it. Wasn't sure if it was you.

Why do they need to pull crappy stunts like this? They're raking it in, and it just damages their reputation (if they have one). I've no doubt in a year's time I'll get another sad letter telling me they're sorry I'm leaving.

  7. For one to damage one’s reputation. One must have a reputation to start with.

British Greed is entirely run for the benefit of its shareholders and extremely well paid senior managers. Plebs er sorry customers and staff are quite frankly an annoyance they could do without.

But I’m sure the massive share options they cash in just before they toddle off to run Alton Towers or find themselves in a yoga retreat in Tibet probably softens the blow of their reputational damage a little.

  8. Because this is a family environment and pre watershed I shall refrain from calling the bosses/managers of BG what they actually are. But let’s just say that it refers to casting your eye over a particular person on a certain day of next week.

  10. Nothing against the engineers. They are just trying their best, over worked and bullied by their managers. The senior managers/bean counters couldn’t run a bath. They appear to have all qualified from the Micheal O’Leary school on management charm with distinctions.

  11. Do you dislike Mr O Leary as well Rusty?:D

  12. What do you think. The man’s a disgrace. I’ve got nothing against someone being successful, I’m certainly not the jealous or envious type. But I find it hard to stomach when I know it’s off the back of taking advantage of your staff.

when I had people working for me I treated them fairly. I went out of my way to make sure they were looked after and knew I genuinely value them and appreciated what they did. And you know what they were happy, I had almost no turn over of staff and very low sickness etc cos people didn’t mind coming to work. We all got on, we had a laugh and we earnt good money. Win win. I hate bullies.
