the government figures are from a early study done where Portland down staff carried out the tests.
Later a study was done using healthcare professionals and it dropped to about 80%
A later again study using students mass testing in Liverpool it dropped to 58%

It is thought to be down to the ability to do the test properly it’s not a nice experience and as I’ve had to do them twice a week since Christmas I can vote on the fact its horrible

My understanding is it only picks up very high virus loads where you normally have symptoms and you get a lot of false positives.

this is why the proper lab PCR test is use to confirm and is used before you go into hospital

  5. Wot I have endured the pain of the first, the agony of the wait for the second the excruciating second jab, 30 minutes total waiting to pass out and it doesn't work for the South African variety, I want some compo for this, where are the ambulance chasers when you really need them;);)

  7. My daughter is a nurse and has to do a lateral flow test on herself twice a week, she was told they were around 60% accurate when she got them. If it comes up positive she has to go for a proper test asap which should give a more difinitve result.

Seems it was a top one and a lot less painful than removing a bottom one.

  16. I've had them all done, and yes the bottom ones were a bit of a tussle.

  20. Assuming the SA govenment will let you in and you want to travel to a high covid area ...

Got a refund for last November as the SA govenment stopped all tourism even though Boris was allowing travel there ...
