Covering the fuse box area

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by jim mcglynn, Sep 9, 2020.

  1. Has anyone covered in the fuse box area, between the kick plates and dashboard? It's bugs me that it looks a bit messy there, so have been wondering whether to fashion some sort of simple covering.

You could fit a parcel shelf – but that will soon look a lot messier than a fuse box. Just look out the windscreen and forget about it.

  3. Don't like those parcel shelves, do you? All seem a bit flimsy and plasticy.

Might just cover it with some sort of black material. The mess spoils bugs me when I'm relaxing in the back with a coffee

Ive seen plastic covers fashioned to create a cover. The one I vaguely remember was a ECU or fuse cover lid off a modern car with the hinge art re utilised so it dropped down. I kind of feel it was someone at techenders who had it?

I’m sure it is easily worked out once you look closely at the shape and size of things.

  7. A small pair of velvet curtains, operated with a pull string?

    ^ This.
Perhaps you just need to tidy it up a bit?
This is without the kick panels in, once they're in you only see a tiny bit of the loom going into the fuse box, and everything above it is tucked under the dash:

  12. I do need to tidy up a bit. But that aside, kick panels, carpet, dash, but a blank area in between kick panels and dash.

Plastic glove box liner, tidy the slight dangling wiring?
The soggy old carboard glove box liner is the eyesore.

You need to sort the bits zedders said and maybe fit some nice new kick panels and a shiny black parcel shelf as mentioned above and they whole thing will look spiffing.

  16. Yep, you're probably right. Just need to clean it and tidy it.

  18. What's the plastic like Geoff? Flimsy, or decent? Did you get the JK one (I know you're not their biggest fan )

I probably did buy it from JK Jim, back in the days before I was wiser, but considering its JK quality it fits well and it’s reasonably sturdy. It creaks a bit if the passenger uses it as a foot rest but it hasn’t broken - yet.
