Clutch Operating Shaft for crossover

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by nightmonkey, Jun 25, 2022.

  1. Hi, I'm trying to get the right clutch operating shaft for my 72 crossover. There seams to be a lot of different ones out there. Can anyone tell me if this is a Crossover quirk? The lists of vehicles that these fit seam to be all over the place with dates! Has anyone found one that fits?

  2. Only two, up to 75 and 76 on.

Put the arm on the shaft first, fix the circlip then lever the spring into position.
Measure your cross shaft diameter. As Big Herb says there are only 2.
16mm and 20mm diameter. Be wary of some of the very cheap aftermarket ones, the circlip grooves aren't quite in the right place and they are a world of pain to fit...OE is best. The fork tips can be touched up if they are worn flattish, but only to a point. They need a little hump on them to roll across the back of the release bearing

  5. I ended up getting mega cheap ones from Heritage because the others were out of stock. £5.20 each!!! I have gone for schofields now because they normally don't sell crap....
