No worries... they certainly look familiar. Do you have tyre scrub?

If you think its worth buying the Protech shocks, i'd suggest looking at the threaded adjustable Gaz shocks instead so that if you do end up wanting coilovers you have the right shocks to add the springs to.

  14. Can you not get someone to machine some bushes to suit rather than new shocks.
an engineer with a lathe would knock them up in no time....

Or you could probably find some poly bushes to fit

There’s a couple of good threads on here and the e.arlybay site, but the crux of it is (with me and a few others)...

Bay lowered on flipped Transporterhaus spindles which have an advertised drop of 3.5” however in reality they are closer to 4.5 - 5”.

The knock on effect is that even with short tyres (175 55 15) the soft bay torsion bars result in tyres scrubbing the arches when the suspension is compressed. Stiffer dampers helped but didn’t take big bumps well.

The solution has been to add coilover springs on the dampers to increase the spring rate and reduce suspension movement. The criticism is that the top shock mount is not designed to take the spring load, but reported failures are limited.

My suggestion above was, if your planning on spending £150ish on new shocks you could buy threaded Gaz adjustable dampers without the springs, work out how the rest of your set up is working and add the springs for £40 if you need to.

  19. Wow some info there, I’m in no rush to purchase shocks , so I’m going to look into the options and then decide

  20. The shocks I’ve taken off are in effect new , so I have the option to keep or sell , but also it gives me the opportunity to consider any other options ! ( which really is the fun part )
